Yippee … St Patrick’s Day has arrived on the far side. Top of the morning to everyone! St Paddy’s day is a favorite for me for two of reasons. First, I love the excuse of eating green food and drink while watching the world have an excuse to drink Guiness. Horrid stuff but then again I’ve only a little bit of the Irish in me and I’m not at all fond of beer.
But the second, most important reason is that my youngest son shares his birthday with Saint Patrick’s Day. Of course it seemed utterly essential that I work Patrick into my newborn child’s name. What else could I do … he has his own drinking day! Later on he might even thank me after a night of introducing himself around an Irish pub. So happy birthday my little future barister. With that silver tongue of yours you’ll likely sell a blind man a pair of binoculars and have them swear on their grandmother’s elbow that they got a fair deal.
And in celebration of my son and Saint Patrick’s day I thought I would post some wonderful Irish saying to brighten your day.
One has just entered my head.
If a man doesn’t drink when he’s living,
How in the hell can he drink when he’s dead?
May the splinters never point in the wrong direction!
A quick death and an easy one
A pretty girl and an honest one
A cold beer and another one!
Walls for the winds,
A roof for the rain,
Tea beside the fire,
Laughter to cheer you,
Those you love near you,
And all your heart might desire!

Love it! My name is tied to the day too – Erin Go Braugh! 🙂 Go enjoy some green OJ and perhaps a Guinness or two later on.
